Google released the 4.4 update for Google Play services, this update is majorly focussed on Map API, Game Services, Wallet fragments and mobile Ads.After this update, Google Map API now allows embedded Street View into an activity with zoom and orientation feature of the Street View Camera.
Developers can now animate camera movement over duration.Here is an example:
Two new activity detectors also included in location API and those are, Running and Walking. Before these detectors we were able to detect if the device is in a vehicle, on a bicycle, on foot, still, or tilting but after These new activity detectors, the developers can interact with users in even better ways.
Game Gifts feature was added in the 4.3, which allows users to request gifts or wishes. And in this update UI has been extended to now allow the user to select multiple Game Gifts recipients, to allow more collaboration and social engagement between players.
New APIs added for publishers to display in-app promo ads in this update, which enables users to purchase advertised items directly. After this update developers will take control of targeting specific user segments with ads, for example offering high-value users an ad for product A, or new users with an ad for product B, etc.
The WalletFragment API introduced in this release makes it extremely easy to integrate Google Wallet Instant Buy with an existing app. Just configure these fragments and add them to your app by placing a Buy with Google button in an app.
