Android OS Is Leading The Market

According to The latest smartphone sales data from Kantar Worldpanel ComTech, Apple performing strongly in the first quarter of the year and its market share in the US dropped by 7.8 percent to 35.9 percent.Windows Phone is in third with 5.3 percent and Android is leading with nearly 57.6 percent of the smartphone market share in the US.

According to the report In Europe, Android remains the top OS with 70.7% share, while Apple holds second position at 19.2%. Windows, at third, accounts for 8.1% of smartphone sales.

Kantar Worldpanel ComTech strategic insight director Dominic Sunnebo said 

“Apple regained ground in the first quarter of 2014, primarily due to the strong performance of the iPhone 5S, growing its sales share in Europe, Japan and Australia. By contrast, Windows had a tough start to the year as a result of its entry-level Nokia models facing fierce competition from low-end Motorola, LG and Samsung Android smartphones.”

Apple has been particularly successful in Japan where, in the past quarter, it has secured 42% of smartphone sales on NTT DoCoMo, 59% on KDDI AU and 81% on Softbank. The design of the iPhone (30%) remains the key draw for Japanese consumers, followed by its 4G capability (29%) and the belief that it will be reliable (24%).

In Japan lagging well behind Europe and the US, Japan will remain a key growth market for Apple.”

In China, phablet growth continues unabated. Devices with a screen larger than 5” made up 40% of smartphone sales in March.

Also there are more rumors in the market that Apple is going to release a device with a bigger screen.Just hope for the best but what the conclusion is Android won the race smartphones market share and Android is continuing its domination of the market.

iTunes store for Android Also!

According to a report from Billboard: Apple is apparently considering launching an iTunes store for Android to combat declining music sales, and The same report also says that Apple executives are in talks with record label executives about launching an on-demand music streaming service.

Launching an on-demand service could make iTunes much more similar to platforms like Spotify. Currently the iTunes Store is available on OS X and iOS, as well as Microsoft’s Windows. In fact, Steve Jobs was asked about bringing iTunes to Android back in 2011. Hit the break to see what he had to say:

“We thought about whether we should do a music client for Android. We put iTunes on Windows in order to sell more iPods. But I don’t see an advantage of putting our own music app on Android, except to make Android users happy. And I don’t want to make Android users happy.”

Obviously things have changed a lot since 2011, and Tim Cook has even said that he has nothing against bringing iTunes to Android, if it made sense.what do you think?

The smartphone market passed an important milestone in 2013 when worldwide shipments surpassed the 1 billion mark for the first time, driven by continued momentum from Android and iOS.IDC’s latest numbers are in, and 2013 was a pretty big year for smartphones. For the first time ever, smartphone shipments passed 1 billion total phones, which is an incredible achievement. Android smartphones accounted for just shy of 800 million devices. Android and iOS were (obviously) the two major forces behind driving this growth, as both operating systems accounted for 93.8% of smartphone shipments total last year.

For the fourth quarter, we saw some pretty positive growth, too. Android shipments grew 40.3% year-over year, second only to Windows Phone. However, in terms of pure numbers, Android shipping an incredible 226.1 million devices compared to Windows Phone’s 8.8 million. iOS actually saw some pretty slow growth year-over-year, coming in at around 6.7%.

As far as manufacturers are concerned, Samsung is still by and large the top dog in the Android ecosystem, shipping almost 40% of all Android devices in 2013. There’s plenty of manufacturers in the second place spot, but none of are anywhere close to Samsung’s numbers. Not yet, anyway.

The growths last year were huge, but everything else has stayed pretty predictable. Samsung’s still at the top, Samsung and Apple ship more phones than everyone else combined, and BlackBerry is slowly falling off the charts. It’ll be interesting to see how these numbers change when smartphone growth inevitably slows down in the next few years.

Forrestors research of Customer Experience Survey 2012 to 14

Apple has been the envy of every other tech company for many years, but kinks in the armor are starting to appear. Forrester Research just posted the results of their third study regarding customer experiences for electronics companies, and things didn't go so well for Apple this time around.

 Apple fell below Samsung, Sony, and Microsoft For the first time. Interestingly enough, Amazon has led this category for the Kindle line of tablets since 2012.  This year, they got their highest score ever of 91, which lands them in the “Excellent” category. Second place went to Sony with a score of 83, and Samsung and Microsoft tied for third with a score of 82. Apple wasn't far behind at 81. All four of these companies are in the “Good” category.

A new increment in Cross Platform Version Messaging applications "IMessage",Name of The application is enough to tell you that it is promissing application to the android users to communicate via Apple's IMessage.Look and feel of the IOS and OS X Service but could be more trouble than it's worth.

Adam Bell, a software engineer, stated on Twitter:

“I 100% do not trust that apk, but it does work with test accounts lol”

While others have reported that it works successfully,and many reported alot of security risks in the Application due to involvement of application maker's servers in China.

Note: iMessage Chat has been pulled from the Play Store. In a statement to Computerworld, Google says that it found that the app was violating store policies.

BlackBerry delays BBM release for iOS and Android following leak

Smartphone maker BlackBerry has had to hold up the global roll out of its popular BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) instant chat software on the iOS 7 and Android operating systems after an unofficial version of the app was leaked online this weekend.

As the company geared up to make the app available for the first time on the other smartphone operating systems, an unauthorised version of the Android app was posted online and downloaded by curious Android users 1.1 million times in just 8 hours.

This leak caused the Canadian company a number of issues that it had to spend most of Saturday trying to resolve.

Due the leak, the rollout of the iOS 7 version of the software, which has so far only been released in New Zealand, has had to be paused.

An official statement on BlackBerry’s website reads, “Prior to launching BBM for Android, an unreleased version of the BBM for Android app was posted online. The interest and enthusiasm we have seen already – more than 1.1 million active users in the first 8 hours without even launching the official Android app – is incredible. Consequently, this unreleased version caused issues, which we have attempted to address throughout the day.

“Our teams continue to work around the clock to bring BBM to Android and iPhone, but only when it's ready and we know it will live up to your expectations of BBM. We are pausing the global roll-out of BBM for Android and iPhone. Customers who have already downloaded BBM for iPhone will be able to continue to use BBM. The unreleased Android app will be disabled, and customers who downloaded it should visitwww.BBM.com to register for updates on official BBM for Android availability.”

The incident is the latest piece of bad news for the ailing smartphone maker.

On Friday the company, once a pioneer in the smart phone field, announced plans to cut 4,500 jobs, around 40 percent of its global workforce following poor financial performance.

In the same statement the company said it anticipated losses of around £621 million ($995 million) when it releases its second-quarter earnings report next week.

BlackBerry’s chief executive Thorsten Heins said on Friday, “We are implementing the difficult, but necessary operational changes announced today to address our position in a maturing and more competitive industry, and to drive the company toward profitability.“

”Going forward, we plan to refocus our offering on our end-to-end solution of hardware, software and services for enterprises and the productive, professional end user.“

The firm’s losses were mainly blamed on the poor sales of its latest Z10 model device.

In June Mr Heins announced that the company had shipped only 2.7 million Z10 units out of a total of 6.8 million since the phone’s unveiling in January. By contrast, Apple comfortable exceeded this figure with sales of its new iPhone models this weekend alone.
